This park and the mighty Rufiji River have refused to be tamed by man. It is without doubt the last remaining stronghold of the wild in the World.
Within its vast domain are to be seen the largest elephant herds. Other animals that frequent the reserve are Greater Kudu, Water buck, Zebra, Baboon, Giraffe, Eland, Sable, Hartebeest, Wild Dogs, Lion, Buffalo. The Reserve is best avoided during the long rains of March to May and its peak is from June to October. The park can be explored on foot in the presence of an armed ranger, by vehicle and its rivers by boat.
The Seasonal Camps located in prime positions of the Selous offer guests with every luxury and more, whilst overlooking huge areas of true Wilderness. Besides game viewing, it offers some of the finest small boat safaris. The best mode of travel is to fly into and out of the Selous on the schedule flight option.
