Tarangire

Tarangire derives its name from the Tarangire River, which rises from the South and makes its way through the length of the park.  The river is the water source that keeps this park alive during the dry season.

Herds of Elephants scratch the dry river bed with their tusks for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem.
